A few selected "must reads"...so far!

Below are a few books that help define and explain the world of dementia. These are easy to read and very informational. You will see less emphasis on medicalization and a call for increased focus on prevention, healthy lifestyles, and other non-pharmacological approaches.

The book by Whitehouse & George has been controversial since being published because the approach was considered radical. However, much of what he wrote 13 years ago is proving to be true today!

Aronson's book, while not focusing on dementia, addresses dementia throughout. Her focus is on how we as a society look at aging. Very insightful much like Powell's work! I encourage everyone to read both.

I also included President Ronald Reagan's letter to the public announcing his Alzheimer's diagnosis. He addresses his condition with openness, honesty, and bravery.

More to come...
